Over the last couple of years the town council has undertaken a rigorous review of its policies, governance arrangements, financial systems and community engagement work. As a result of this we are delighted to have been accredited with the Foundation Level of the national Local Council Award Scheme. Councillor Mel Carr, Chair of the town council, was recently presented with the award by Mr Dennis Coates, National Association of Local Council’s Local Accreditation Panel Chairman. Councillor Carr said “This is a great achievement by Sedgefield Town Council and recognises that we achieve good practice. The council is committed to further improvement and we look forward to one day achieving even greater success in this scheme”.
