Over recent months, Sedgefield Town Council has been working to submit a funding application to the East Rural Durham Corridor Area Action Partnership (ERDC AAP)’s UP 2 U Funding scheme. The application has been successfully approved to the voting stage.
The funding application is for the provision of a new kitchen in the former office adjacent to the Fletcher Room with a hatch opening.
The proposal includes the follows:
• Plaster and paint the Fletcher Room walls and ceiling
• Replace Fletcher Room flooring
• Replace windows with strengthened double glazing and remove external bars
• Lagging in Fletcher Room roof
• Create a wall opening between Fletcher Room and adjoining old office room
• Install security shutters in hatch opening
• Install kitchen appliances and furniture in former office/proposed kitchen
• Replace window in proposed kitchen
• Paint proposed kitchen
• Install Wi-Fi in the Parish Hall
This renovation has been requested by a range of Parish Hall Users over recent years and proved overwhelming popular in our recent Sedgefield Parish Hall consultation. This new ‘coffee bar’ style serving hatch will allow the Fletcher Room to become the perfect venue for self-contained functions such as private parties, coffee mornings, luncheon clubs, meetings and more. The installation of a second kitchen will prevent future booking clashes, with the current kitchen to be used by Main Hall Users and the new kitchen to be utilised by Fletcher Room bookings.
Sedgefield Town Council would like to introduce a Youth Club in the village. This renovation could provide a space where a Youth Club can be held.
HOW TO CAST YOUR VOTE
The public voting event will be held on Saturday 26th November 2016 between 10am-2pm in the main sports hall at ACTIVE LIFE @ COXHOE (Linden Grove, DH6 4DW). A number of applicants will be promoting their individual applications and voters can vote for up to three projects. The winning projects will be allocated money from the £40,000 fund. Projects that do not receive enough votes will not get AAP funding. Anyone over the age of 11 years old can vote so long as they live, work or go to school within the boundary of the ERDC AAP.
WE URGE THOSE OF YOU WHO LIVE, WORK OR GO TO SCHOOL WITHIN THE AAP BOUNDARY TO COME ALONG AND CAST YOUR VOTE. THIS PROJECT CANNOT TAKE PLACE WITHOUT YOUR VOTE!
