We have just finished our most successful Summer Holiday programme yet, courtesy of Durham County Council’s Fun and Food scheme. It’s been fantastic to see so many new faces and the sessions have thrived! We’ve had so much interest that going forward, we’ve adapted core session timings (juniors 6-7:15pm and seniors 7:15-8:30pm) to allow for more balanced sessions.
We have had an absolutely incredible 68 members attend over the summer holidays – our highest attendance yet. 44 of those were new members, and we are over the moon that we have been able to provide you all with lots of fun over the holidays.
In addition to four of our usual Monday evening sessions, we held a competitive games day where everyone won a medal (well done!), a day of baking in preparation for our annual summer coffee morning the following day. Thank you so much to all families and residents who attended our coffee morning, we are always shown so much support and we raised a whopping £306 which will be a tremendous help towards providing fun activities at Halloween and Christmas.
We’ve also had two trips – laser tag (congratulations Nancy for coming top!) and rock climbing. To finish off our activities, we danced the night away at our disco, with lots of fun games and a delicious buffet.
A big part of this funding scheme is providing healthy food to young people, and we’ve had lots of it. We’ve cooked dishes from all over the world, enjoying some meals off-site and re-fuelling with lots of healthy snacks. Thank you so much to everyone involved in making our summer holidays so fun – DCC Fun & Food, EDRC AAP and Sedgefield Town Council.
